Transforming Trade Industries

Through Economic Empowerment

The Qnity Institute is a boutique data firm that delivers actionable workforce insights for trades in beauty, wellness, and other industries. We are committed to the belief that trades offer a powerful pathway to economic empowerment and entrepreneurship. Our mission is to provide high-quality research and data through public and private studies, shedding light on the economic realities and potential of careers in beauty, health, wellness, and other trades.

Recognizing the importance of financial literacy across all industries, we also offer financial literacy and wellness programs tailored to the needs of trade professionals. Our studies, supported by leading brands and conducted by an unparalleled research team, have analyzed W2 compensation data for over 25,000 trade professionals, profiled average financial literacy scores of students and professionals, and examined average profit and loss statements of small businesses. Our findings have been presented to the U.S. Department of Education, the U.S. Department of Labor, the White House, and numerous private companies across varying sectors.

PUBLIC STUDIES

We offer privately commissioned studies, as well as public studies available to the public and our members. See below for a list of recent public studies.

2023 Compensation Study Report coming soon!

The first study started out as a grassroots effort seeking to address a seemingly simple question: What does a career in beauty look like from an economic perspective? Many attempts to answer this question have been incomplete and unable to tell the full story, either focusing on a small number of schools that have failed aspiring cosmetologists or making blanket statements about the industry, such as ‘poverty-level earnings.’ This study aims to provide an additional point of reference for those considering a career in professional beauty, and perhaps change the hearts and minds of those who broadly categorize the industry as a low-tier profession.
